Barry Pulliam, Ed.D.Chief Executive OfficerFrom educator to innovator, Barry’s background is a testament to
the Personal Branding tenant that individual strengths can shape a
career. Barry earned a doctorate in Educational Management from the
University of La Verne (California) and served 10 years as Deputy
Superintendent and Superintendent of schools in San Bernardino
County, Calif. During this period, Barry received many organization
and community leadership awards including the California Teachers
Association State Gold Award for support of teachers, students, and
public education, and the Redlands Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa’s
Educator of the Year Award. Barry has taught courses in school
finance and law for the University of Redlands for more than 12
years. Barry established The Pulliam Group in 1999 to help schools
and districts learn how to use standards-based assessment data to
improve student-learning outcomes.
Jim Kuhr
PresidentJim brings to CareerSpace his commitment to providing
educational opportunities for career development. His years of
experience in a variety of corporate cultures make him an
invaluable resource to job seekers. He is a highly successful
business professional with expertise in planning technology vision
and infrastructure, developing products and positioning strategies,
and formulating effective marketing programs, all of which can be
applied to personal branding. He has driven technological business
development in the computer, education, banking, and manufacturing
industries for companies such as Sylvan Ventures, Microsoft, Apple
Computers, Seafirst Bank, and Georgia-Pacific Corporation. His
experience includes working in international markets such as Latin
America, and the Pacific Rim.
Julie Maiz
Vice President, Career Development Services
In any industry, human resources professionals can be an
employee’s best allies. CareerSpace’s Julie Maiz has more than 20
years of experience in the field of Human Resources, including 16
years in the Personnel Office of the San Bernardino County
Superintendent of Schools. She ended her career there as Program
Manager, Personnel Services. The last three years Julie has served
as the Director of Operations/Human Resources for The Pulliam
Group. Julie has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and
a Master’s in Human Behavior- the ideal background for helping job
seekers find their ideal position, and helping employers hire
satisfied, appropriately-challenged employees.
Marilyn Gogolin
Vice President Business Development
Whether in the hospital, the classroom, or the boardroom,
Marilyn’s unique skill set has provided her with a rich career
history. She spent over 30 years in public education, beginning as
a teacher and retiring as the Acting County Superintendent for the
Los Angeles County Office of Education. Prior to her career in
public education, Marilyn worked as a Board Certified Speech and
Language Pathologist in hospital-clinical settings. After her
successful career in public education, Marilyn served as Chief
Operating Officer of The Pulliam Group for four years. Having
successfully worked in three separate arenas, her own “personal
brand” lends itself perfectly to the mission of CareerSpace.
